Since the firm’s founding, it has developed & nurtured an experienced staff of architectural designers and consultants with impressive design and state of the art technical skills. Having each worked at internationally recognized architectural firms (Gilles as Senior Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Kathryn as an Associate at I.M. Pei & Partners) they each bring deep experience designing and managing both small and large-scale projects.

30 Orchard: 30 Orchard – A 20,000 sf condominium apartments building in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The 13 apartments range from one and two bedroom to penthouse duplex units. The ground floor and basement is a gallery. Bedford House: Bedford House is organized along 2 massive stonewalls & two pools of water arranged perpendicularly to one another, these define the programmatic public & private zones. The walls also frame the views and create privacy. Space is captured in glass volumes flanking these stone walls. A double height living room cantilevers over the rocky ridge creates the illusion of being amongst the trees. Wood screens shelter from the sun’s rays while solar panels capture its power. San Francisco House: SF House– Located on the cliffs of the San Francisco shoreline, the architects radically transformed the structure to accommodate a seismic upgrade. The dramatic redesign of this modern house took full advantage of the home’s breathtaking views.The original house worked against the spectacular site. “With its massive over-scaled roof and heavy timber detailing, reminiscent of Polynesian architecture, the house dominated the site, without taking advantage of the incredible view. Cliff* House: Cliff* House Lady of Lebanon Chancery: The Lady of Lebanon Chancery project included a renovation and insertion of a chancery into a Romanesque revival church, built by Richard Upjohn in 1844. Ogawa/Depardon Architects’ challenge was to insert modern elements into a historically restored architecture. All historical elements within this landmark building were restored including renovation of the brick; stone and original cast iron columns as well as extensive restoration of painted friezes and the ceiling. Bar 89: Bar 89 is set within the Historic Cast Iron District of Soho, this 2-story modern building was designed to house a bar & restaurant. The site is a narrow 25’ x 100’ vacant parking lot flanked by 6 story landmarked buildings on both sides.A double story space, 26’ tall punctuated by a series of distinct architectural objects: Façade/Entrance, Bar, Skylight, stair & Lounge. Each related to each other & to the building as a whole by upon a common geometry, materials & an attention to details Modern Tree House: Ogawa / Depardon was commissioned to renovate & restructure an existing modernist house in Bedford, New York.The design consisted of tearing off the back wall of the house & restructuring it with a steel frame. This allowed very large custom wood & glass windows to be introduced giving full-unencumbered access & views to the beautiful site.The house was gutted & modernized throughout. Riverside Gem: Riverside Gem– The owners of this pre-war co-op apartment wanted a minimalistic modern design that would be a back drop to their collection of art and unique collectibles. The combined living/dining space has expansive views of the Hudson River which resulted in the raised platform at their dining area to maximize their views of the river while dining. Techbuilt House: Techbuilt House– Ogawa| Depardon was commissioned to renovate a 1950s pre-fabricated 2,400-square-foot four-bedroom home constructed largely from standardized four-by-eight-foot modules —a simple, efficient and affordable structure that went up in a brisk three weeks in January 1958 designed by Karl Koch. This house was an early example of industrialized construction. Our interventions gave this house a face-lift & a total system upgrade, but kept its soul & design sensibilities. UWS – townhouse: Located in the Upper West Side, New York, the townhouse is situated in the middle of a historic block of brownstones with a distinct 19th century character. The client’s request was to achieve privacy & openness at the same time. Glass partitions & railing were used to create a translucency and filtering of light and shadows gently from the roof skylight into the stairwell. The rear facade was detailed in steel wood & copper to add interest to the narrow and tall shape. Cube*: Cube*– A ground up new construction of a small country house located in upstate New York. Continuing their relationship with an existing client, Ogawa/Depardon Architects used several modular construction techniques. The design accommodates a tight budget (under $125 per sq. ft.) by simplifying the construction process and by reducing construction material waste. The design has been created as a prototype for future economical constructions. Greenwich Loft: Greenwich Loft Stone* House: Located in Pound Ridge, NY, this stone & wood house was commissioned as a spec. house to be built within a very tight budget. The house was sited deep into an embankment overlooking a beautiful 4 acres pond. By opening up the house through large expanse of glass, we used the Japanese concept of “borrowed views” to bring the picturesque landscape into the house. Malibu Bliss: Malibu Bliss– This vintage 2,400 square foot residence, perched over the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, was designed by a significant architect from the 1950’s. Ogawa/Depardon planned a sensitive renovation that respected it’s distinctive design and it’s panoramic views up the coastline and the ocean beyond. Zinc + Glass house: Zinc + Glass house– Under Construction Brooklyn Lantern*: Brooklyn Lantern*– Located in Brooklyn, New York, on a quiet tree-lined neighborhood, the townhouse is situated in the middle of a historic block of brownstones with a distinct 19th century character. To maximize flexibility and allow as much light into the space, the ground floor was designed with an open floor plan. Translucent moveable partitions were also installed to create a temporary enclosure for a guest bedroom. Shiseido Store: Shiseido Store West Village Glow*: West Village Glow*– After the removal of a ramshackle greenhouse appendage at the rear of this townhouse, a new facade of exposed structural steel and large custom wood windows brought light and warmth into the kitchen and family room that face the rear garden. The owner wanted a design that was complimentary to their collection of mid century modern furniture, lighting and decorative objects.
