Basket Grass: A Field Guide
Forgive us for lumping Lomandra in with our other guides to perennial grasses. We know the thin-bladed, clumping plants are in reality perennial herbs.
But Lomandra cultivars look like perennial grasses, grow like perennial grasses, crave the same growing conditions as perennial grasses, and …. well, you get the idea.
Native to Australia and nicknamed basket grass (clearly we were not the first to see the resemblance), Lomandra is an evergreen (in USDA growing zones 7 to 10) ornamental plant that can fill holes in a garden bed or create a feathery borders to a path.
