We love to see what’s happening beneath the surface. The roots are some of the loveliest parts of the flowers that our correspondent Erin Boyle is raising in jars of water in her Brooklyn apartment. In “DIY: Bottled Fed Paperwhites,” she cradled bulbs in wide-mouthed bottles she’d collected. If you don’t have a trove of vintage bottles on hand, here’s another option:
