DIY Lanterns to Light Up the Night

October 30, 2013

With the nights getting longer, we have even more incentive to light them up.

After we ran across this colored lantern set from Darby Smart, we decided to test the kit ourselves. Simple instructions, easy steps, and in a matter of minutes, we had them strung up in a tree in the backyard. As dusk fell, we wondered: who says it’s too late in the season to throw one more outdoor cocktail party?

A DIY Hanging Votives kit comes with three mason jars, white suede hanging cord, embroidery thread, and glue. The kit is regularly priced at $19 at Darby Smart; Gardenista readers have an exclusive offer to buy the kit for $14 (including free shipping) by typing the code wintergarden at checkout.

Above: Autumn cocktail party, anyone? I am thinking fizzy cider with a kick. Know a good recipe?
