I’m reading The Overstory right now and have trees on the brain, so when I came across the Oráculo Carpet, a circular rug that wraps around the trunk of a tree, I was immediately enamored. It was designed by Nat Sly and Pepi de Boissieu, the founders of design consultancy Dora Daar, after a trip to Senegal, where it’s common to see families gather around a tree to cool off in the shade and reconnect. “The tree was their place of reunion. Under the canopy of the trees, daily dramas and moving love stories were played out.”
