6 Favorites: Low-Slung Folding Metal Beach Chairs

August 4, 2022

I’ve learned a lesson from Maine’s fleeting summers: Always keep a bathing suit and other beach essentials in the back of the car. That way, you’re always prepared for a spur-of-the-moment dip or an after-work beach trip just to see the sunset, and soaking up as much summer as possible, even in little bits.

Essential to this beach kit? A folding chair (or two) that’s compact, well-designed, and easy to carry if you’re also toting a book or a bottle of wine. Here are six low-slung lounge types I like.

I&#8\2\17;ve been admiring the simple but well-designed beach chairs from Sunday Supply Co., each with water-, tear-, and fade-resistant cushions and a certain retro look. The Dunes Beach Chair is \$\159.

And the brand&#8\2\17;s Golden Beach Chair is currently on sale for \$\1\19.

Each is lightweight for easy toting.

The Cushioned Beach Chair by outdoor co. Sunnylife is designed for comfort, with a removable padded terrycloth cushion; it&#8\2\17;s \$\1\20 from Revolve.

Local Beach offers similarly stylish and compact offerings at a lower price point; their Blue Brush Stripe Beach Chair, for example, is made from waterproof canvas with foam padding for comfort and weighs only four pounds. It&#8\2\17;s \$89.50 from Local Beach.

Another from Sunday Supply Co., the Marimekko-esque Husk Flower Beach Chair (\$\159) is just one of the throwback patterns on offer.

And a budget option: The weather-resistant Threshold Portable Sand Chair from Target comes in three patterns, but this navy stripe is by far the most classic; each is \$45.
