Indestructible Doormats

Spotted: colorful, indestructible doormats made from discarded lobster float ropes. With Custom Cordage, Maine resident David Bird has found a way to recycle polypropylene ropes destined for landfill and help local lobstermen offset the cost of buying new, whale-friendly ropes. Each doormat is handwoven in Waldoboro, Maine, and can be ordered in a traditional rectangular or runner style; a wide range of Custom Cordage Doormats is on offer at the New England Trading Company; prices start at $39.95 for an 18-by-3-inch doormat.
