New from British brand Anglepoise: Two giant outdoor versions of its iconic 1930s desk lamp.
Why so big? The first giant Anglepoise—the Original 1227, three times the size—was a private commission by England’s Roald Dahl Museum in 2005, as a nod to the writer’s beloved Anglepoise lamp he used while writing. People loved it, as they loved all Dahl giants (remember the BFG, anyone?) and the Anglepoise giant range was born.
Above: The resulting look is part vintage industrial, part storybook. Officially launched in Europe this week at the Light + Building show in Frankfurt, the outdoor giant range will launch in the US at ICFF in May. Shown here is the Original 1227 Giant Outdoor Floor Lamp in dove gray; $5,300.
Above: Both the wall and standing lamps are made of marine-grade stainless steel with sealed lamp units to keep moisture out. They come in 15 colors, in gloss and satin finishes, with a black or gray braided silicone cable. Shown here is the Original 1227 Giant Outdoor Wall Mounted Lamp in crimson red; $5,300.
Above: Thanks to its articulated arm, the wall light can be folded out of the way and extended over a seating area as needed. Orders can be placed on the website starting in June, and delivery will begin in September. Shown here are the wall and standing lamps in marine blue.
