Architect Visit: Klopf Architecture in San Francisco

September 5, 2011

San Francisco-based John Klopf (a member of the Remodelista Architect/Designer Directory) is known for his respectful remodels of Eichlers and other modernist homes in the Bay Area. Case in point: this midcentury hillside home overlooking the Golden Gate Park panhandle, which Klopf updated with modern materials and colors. For more information, go to Klopf Architecture.

Above: Klopf painted the front door red and widened the second-story deck. The red door acts as an accent against the neutral palette and hints at more to come.

Above: Klopf painted the front door red and paneled the overhang in natural wood.

Above: The living/dining area features grass wall covering and raw steel Tolix chairs.

Above: The living room features exposed post-and-beam construction and tongue-and-groove ceilings

Above: A reflective gray glass wall enhances the feel of space.

Above: Wood cabinetry adds warmth to the master bathroom.
