Do you sometimes feel nostalgic for the look and the feel of a glossy paper magazine, where you could flip through gorgeous photos and beautifully laid out stories? Us too.
We remember–and yes, yearn for–the days when consuming words and pictures felt like a glorious feast. That’s why we’re thrilled that Gardenista and Remodelista are two of the newest titles on Flipboard, the app that takes all that jumbled noisy mess of information–your tweets, Facebook updates, RSS feeds, and posts from your favorite websites–and makes sense of it, laying it out as serenely on your screen as if it were a beautiful paper magazine.
We figured there was a good reason why Flipboard has more than 56 million users–including that guy who sat next to me on a transcontinental flight last week and repetitively swiped his finger across his iPad for six hours as he “flipped” through magazines–so we’ve created special, custom Flipboard magazines of our own to feature some of our best Gardenista and Remodelista content.
My husband works at Flipboard, and he encouraged Gardenista to get off to a good start–so far I’ve created 17 different magazines to feature Gardenista content on Flipboard.
We’re in good company. As Wall Street Journal tech columnist Walt Mossberg recently pointed out in a review, “Publishers are making use of the new magazine feature in Flipboard. Esquire has created a magazine that’s a collection of its interviews and Rolling Stone has published a Flipboard magazine collecting some of its articles on the Beatles.”
