The Ultimate Sled: Handmade in the German Alps

This toboggan is made in the German Alps using beech wood and traditional technique by childhood friends turned toboggan makers, Wolfgang and Christoph. Wolfgang, a trained interior designer, and Christoph, a sculptor, have been designing their products in Bavaria since 1994:

N.B.: In the US, Alpine Sleds imports European-made wooden snow sleds (prices start at $99).

Above: The Toboggan is made with laminated beech runners that are lined with high grade steel and has been tested for children’s use by the German technical safety authority (TUV); £59 from Hen and Hammock in the UK.

Above: The toboggan seats two small children or one adult and a rope can be attached in the front to tow it.
