Description from Hedges Online.com
These 6-7ft high Hornbeam will quickly thicken out to give you an excellent hedge. They are very similar to beech hedging but are more suited to heavy clay soils. They are not suited to light sandy soils. Although the leaves die in the winter they hang on the hedge for most of the winter and eventually go brown. These plants should be planted at 1.5ft (45cms) apart in a single row. (Picture showing winter leaf).
