Fun for the weather buffs – was last summer really the third wettest on record? – but also useful for gardeners who might want to know, for example, exactly how much rain fell during that brief late-afternoon shower (do I have to do the watering or not?!). Our rain-meter is a simplified version of the Hellmann Ombrometer: one point on the millimetre scale of the glass container is equivalent to one litre of rain per square metre. Galvanized steel (8 mm in diameter), length 137 cm. Crystal glass funnel, height 21 cm, 12 cm in diameter max. Weight 1.2 kg.
