I don’t have to tell you that working steel wire is a lot more economical than sterling, but did you know that dark annealed steel comes in a dead soft temper and is much more manageable than the galvanized or stainless wires you may have already tried!?
My preferred wire choice, besides being affordable, steel is forgiving and has a fabulous luster and patina when worked. How can you pass this up? (Additional photos to right show pieces made with 20 gauge wire.)
