Dog violet, or wood violet is a perennial wildflower. A natural woodland herb, the dog violet springs to attention between April and June with small, 5-petalled, purple flowers which attract bees. If you look closely, there is a beautifully intricate white petal almost hidden on the inside the dog violet flower. Look out for the unusual egg-shaped dog violet fruits!
