Description from Manufactum

A doorbell with a prettier sound. Our door bell clapper.

A doorbell with an electric ringing mechanism from the 1960s, with a black thermoset housing containing a formidable electro-mechanical clapper. Comes with a horn-shaped or flat gong. Both tones come from here, where you can see from the inner workings that you attach the pleasantly ringing device with a bell wire to an upstream transformer (output voltage 8–12 volts). If you remove your old doorbell and exchange it with this one, (acoustically and electrically) you won’t have done anything wrong. Or call an electrician.

Doorbell rescued, in the nick of time.

We arrived just in time to save the tools for the manufacture of this device. It’s an electrical ringing mechanism from the 1960s, with a formidable electro-technical capacity inside a black thermoset housing. Both activate a 4 cm long clapper made of nickel-plated brass inside an 8 cm deep horn-shaped gong made of nickel-plated sheet steel. The devices are is still being produced for us, thank goodness, by Grothe in Cologne.
