Matthias Kaiser is an Austrian potter who uses unrefined materials for his ceramics and often exposes the process of making to give pieces a raw quality. Kaiser studied at Parsons School of Design and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and has completed apprenticeships with master potters in Japan.
This platinum wall vase is wheel thrown and faceted with wire. The vase has been fired three times – and glazed using a mixture of feldspar, reed and wood ash to produce a matt finish. The piece has been over-glazed with platinum. It can be used as a table or wall vase. Metal bail included for wall mounting.
