Description from Nichols Garden Nursery
Early peppermint plant selection, sweet minty aroma.
Black Mitcham Peppermint, an early peppermint selection dating back too around 1750. Once was a mainstay of oil production both in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and England. We thought it had disappeared until Don Roberts, former director of the OSU USDA germ plasm repository provided us with the authentic Mitcham Black Peppermint. This hardy mint exudes a sweet minty aroma that you can almost taste on the tip of your tongue. We are quite excited to bring this variety back into commerce. Don Roberts bred our Sharon Robert's, and Buena Vista lavenders, both twice bloomingvarieties.
