Designer Takeshi Nii’s named his iconic Ny Chair after his family name, Nii, and also the Danish word for “new” or “fresh”.
Inspired by a director’s chair he saw in a magazine as a child, Nii designed this folding chair in 1958. It won numerous awards, and became a permanent feature at MOMA in 1970.
