Rhubarb Forcers work really well. Forced rhubarb is one of the great delights of early spring. The lack of light turns the rhubarb a delicate pink colour, and also stops the build up of acidity, so cooking and eating the crop is a delight.
These days, the forcers are admired for their architectural strength, set amongst flowers in borders.
