Shed is a storage piece that poetically bridges the cedar shake shingle with the traditional cedar storage closet. The cedar shake shingle is a commonly used building material in the Northeast region of the United States, often seen on the exteriors or roofs of rural homes. Cedar’s texture, pattern and aroma are not only laden with pleasant associations, but also contains insect-repelling qualities that make it great for clothing storage. Designer Harry Allen introduces the shingle–traditionally used outdoors–into the home as a decorative element. With the addition of a peaked roof, Shed conceptualizes the traditional American vernacular and brings the storage shed indoors, creating a beautiful and functional addition to any home.
