Description from Grow Organic
Spear & Jackson Tools Since 1760, Spear & Jackson of Sheffield, England, has been hand forging garden tools to last a lifetime. Although more expensive, they are preferred because they do not bend or fail like cheaper pressed steel tools. A forged tool is strong because it is formed from one thick piece of metal in several re-heating operations. There are no welds or joints. Please note, however, that even a forged tool can be damaged if used inappropriately. For example, a fork could bend if used to pry up an embedded boulder that should be dug out with a shovel. The Heritage line is inspired by the garden tools of yesteryear and maintains the same high quality. Tools come with a solid forged head, one-piece hardwood shaft and a 25 year guarantee. Rakes have a carbon steel head. Three tools can ship together, except the Garden Rake GDS253 which must ship alone.
