Description from Living Pattern
This is a limited reproduction of my original watercolor artwork titled “Sword Ferns” consisting of 5 fronds with 362 lobes. Edition of 50.
12 x 16 in / 30.5 x 41cm
The species is native to Northeastern Australia but is common all over the world, including my home in South Florida, USA where it was collected and drawn from life.
The first thing that caught my attention to the sword fern was its subtle ombré coloration so I exaggerated it, using as many shades as I could while keeping a harmonious color balance. I also played up the natural herringbone pattern and encouraged lights to meet darks for stronger depth.
The art is printed with archival pigment on acid free natural white artist’s paper, made of 90% bamboo. It is very close to the paper I paint on, so it feels like an original. Limited edition number, title, and signature are written by me on the front. Species identification card included with each print.
Each print comes in a clear plastic sealed sleeve and backed with a white mat board. Print packaging is 100% recyclable.
