Description from Design Within Reach
Best known as a founder and principle designer for Dansk tableware, Jens Quistgaard was renowned for his innovative use of untraditional materials. Using both stainless and enameled steel, often combined with warm teak wood, he created consistently elegant pieces for the home that were defined by their functionality. His Folding Stool (1985) embodies this material honesty. The stool works beautifully as a seat, side table or footstool, its strength and stability achieved through its unique triangular construction. Use this lightweight and portable stool just about anywhere indoors or out, then fold it up and tuck it away until next time. Like all teak, it will develop a rich, silvery patina over time, or it can be treated with teak oil to maintain its original luster. Leaving it outside for long periods in inclement weather is not recommended.
