Quite extraordinary pruners from Tobisho, hand-forged to order. The Hiryu differs from all other secateurs with its thinner blade, slightly hollow-ground on the inside, and a slight gap between blade and bypass – creating a finer and cleaner cutting action, which along with the double spring system allows for prolonged use. There’s a nifty reservoir of grease contained within the self tightening bolt system to self-lubricate from the inside. Popular in Japan for winter apple tree pruning, where the double spring softens the impact of repeated cuts. Leather catch at the bottom.
