Object of Desire: A Minimalist Ceramic Birdhouse by Lisa Viscardi
Maybe it’s because I recently saw Minions: The Rise of Gru (thanks to one oppressive heat wave and one persistent kid), but ceramicist Lisa Viscardi‘s birdhouses look alive to me, like one-eyed creatures ready to delight.
Bulbous, imperfect, sometimes bearing a pair of wings (or arms, depending on how you see them), her hand-built creations are at once chic and playful.
This one reminds me of a little baby bird with its mouth wide open, ready for a worm.
“[The] birdhouses are all one of a kind; varying clay bodies are organically hand built and fired in their raw state before being paired with an assortment of all-weather paracord and marine-grade hardware,” reads the copy on Commune.
