Object of Desire: Timber Pot from Rokurosha - Gardenista
Japan-based woodturner Yoshio Sakai believes it’s time to “drastically redefine the value of things.” To him that means starting with a discarded log and transforming it into a “meaningful resource.” A beautiful resource, as well.
A Timber Pot is available in two sizes; 3,780 JPY and 4,860 JPY from Rokurosha.
Woodturner Yoshio Sakai founded Rokurosha in 2014; he works in a studio in Fukui Prefecture in western Japan.
Born in 1980 in Otaru, Hokkaido, Sakai traveled widely and studied with a traditional woodturner before winning a Young Designer Award in 2015 at Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, the largest international consumer goods trade show in the world.
Also available from New Zealand–based Everyday Needs, a small, four-inch-high Japanese Cedar Planter Pot is $85 NZD.
