Trend Alert: Bamboo Hand Tools for Gardeners - Gardenista
Portland, Oregon-based design house Bambu sources bamboo in China, where local woodworkers and artisans create a handmade collection of garden tools that includes a lightweight hand fork, trowel, and plant markers:
Bambu’s collection includes (from L) bamboo garden markers, a trowel, and a fork. A Gardening Kit includes all three (plus a spool of twine) and is on sale, marked down to $27 from $33.75.
With flared tines, the garden fork is meant to loosen and fluff soil: “great for mixing materials into the soil, turning compost piles, weeding and harvesting root crops like carrots and potatoes,” says Bambu.
Shaped from a single piece of bamboo, an 11-inch Garden Fork is $9 and comes with a waxed cotton loop so you can hang it easily from a peg in a shed.
A set of six 7-inch bamboo Garden Markers is made from certified-organic bamboo; $8.
